Salad again!

All my baby aragula have rotten in the fridge. So two weeks is the limit for it to stay refrigerated?

The one in the photo is sunflower seeds, leek, purple cabbage and cucumber. Dressing? My favourite Japanese sesame!

Juicy Sweet! Pineapple!

Ying Ying whom I've not met since our last meal with Junqiang came to my place. And my oh my, she brought a whole orchard with her! A pineapple, a box of oranges and a few mangoes! She has never cut a single mango before in her life! And she decided to try her hands on the most difficult of the three - the hardy pineapple.

Now, I am enjoying the fruit of her labour while doing work on a Sunday afternoon :)

Wildhoney again!

Tunisia is good! But both sausage Tunisia and my sandwich are the type that resembles Chinese sausages. After a while, it was too much of a salty sweet experience.

Friend's choice at wildhoney

This dish is called chicken chop chop - so misleading is the name, none of us would have suspected it has curry powder in it. In all fairness, the main ingredients are written on the menu board.

Basque breakfast @ Wildhoney

Don't really like smoked ham but I'm not wasting it. My friend chomped it up for me :)

A traditional Basque breakfast for two to four people.

1 tablespoon olive oil
125g smoked streaky bacon diced
1 large onion peeled and chopped
3 red peppers, halved, de-seeded and diced

Empowerment in Musical

Have you watched the Lion King? I was intrigued, amazed, awed and moved to tears. Okay, I know I am more emotional about all things beautiful more than the average crowd but oh, what a spectacular musical!!!! The delicate work that went into each puppet was admirable. I really take my hat off to the costume designer. The choreographer is amazing in his observation of the animals. The lungs and throats of these singers were powerful, pelting out note after note and they have a great sense of humour too. I love 'The Lion King'.

A light

I bought this candle with ginger scent in forgotten years. I never lit it for a year because I just don't want to spend money to buy matches. When I finally received a parcel of matches from a wonderful acquantance, I didn't have a place to burn the candle in.

Today, we had sukiyaki in my humble abode. And for the first time in my life, I forgot to close the door! Now, I have a very pleasant reason to light the candle in my bedroom. And the subtle scent fills my bedroom and slowly floated out into the living room...

This is done for a trivial reason and it strangely reminds me of my prayers for Japan which has just had tsunami and an earthquake. And the nuclear release from their nuclear plants is worrying everyone....

Amazing fashion sense

While rebonding my hair, I've the privilege to flip through magazines at leisure.

This page caught my eye and in my mind the word bubble 'wow' flickered. She is wearing a black and white dress which is flattering for a woman. If you're slim but not ultra-proportionate, the curve lines would take the beholders' eyes to other areas and if you're thin, the curves at the bust area will create an illusion that you are not too skinny. Absolutely well-tailored and designed.

But the most surprising thing was she was wearing a green belt! And it bring the entire outfit to outstanding levels!!!!

Breathless beauty

Japanese dinner for my 16-year-old gals

Beef, enoki mushrooms, leeks, lettuce, spinach, arugula, crispy chicken balls and mirin (rice wine) and sake (cooking oil)

I am going to prepare to feed my dear gals with sukiyaki!

A dinner for about 8 cost $100 I am excited.

I would be making the sukiyaki sauce myself :) oh the ponzu sauce as the dip will be handmade too... Ha ha ha

Love the adventures in cooking!

One of the 10 books I bought in Kinokuniya Member Sale

I've acquired 4 recipe books since february 2011. One Korean cuisine, Two Japanese cuisine and one mexican.

How much more useful are recipe books than recipe e-sites?

Well, for one, the range and fullness of ingredients and tips are more detailed. And because, there are such things as best recipe book awards and sale profits to consider, the inclusion of helpful pictures of ingredients, cooking crockeries and final picture of the dish are professionally done up.

I have a fetish for not taking advantage of people. Hence, I believe in supporting people who want to make a living from writing books. And after all, as a teacher, I would like my students to believe that intelligent properties still have righteous support... Each do our little part and people will feel better about the things they do :)

Uemura Kano

2010鎌倉音楽祭 Category: Music Tags: 植村花菜 uemura kana 鎌倉音楽祭 TOTO INAX

A song which was the rage in Japan. When it was introduced over FM93.3, I thought not many Singaporeans would appreciate.

But my ex-classmate whatsapp me the link and my heart leaped a little leap of happiness. People with gentleness and the desire to slow down to treasure the relationships we have abounds...

Lula, a Thai singer

Song is "kae piang dai roo" by Lula for the album TwistRead
