Another Free T-shirt

As an active member of the education sector, one of the things I get for free is T-shirt. I've gotten the fourth one today. And it's a shirt for an event of the past. Have you seen the date printed on the shirt?

I'm not complaining. I'm very proud of Singapore Arts Festival. How many countries could boast of such art capital, such clout in bringing groups from as far as America and as near as Malaysia? Nobody quarrels with us and hence, we even staged a slightly imperialitic Japanese show as the opening for this year's Arts Festival. (You would have read about this cow in my previous entry).

Oh yes, the reason I received this shirt was that I attended a talk about next year's Arts Festival. More contemporary and experimental works. None of the classic. The closest was an offshoot of Shakespeare's Lear entitled "Lear Dreaming".

Contentment is rare

Contentment is a kind of complacency creative people rarely have.

It's with much grace, training and renewal of the mind that I could worship what is true. To be faithful to what is unseen, to rejoice in the truth that never changes.

God has been merciful to me. So my soul is saved.

Yet, the restlessness within me reigns on. Asking questions, seeking new ways to conduct lesson, reading more, watching more, creating more...

Engaged, motivated and open to the world... I am loving the free spirit within more and more... Yet anchored in the eternal truth that I am saved to 'go and make disciples of all nations' and in all the explorations of the nations, He says 'And surely, I am with you always, till the very end of the age.'

Mystery of World Heritage

Once a venue is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, its value in tourist dollars rise.

For me, it's not its status as a WH site which draws me there. It has always been the place itself. And after falling in love with that place, I'll search it out. Then will I notice its WH status, which would drop a little pebble of disappointment in my romantic heart - there will be too many OTHERS. And these OTHERS come for probably its beauty, its status and how many would come truly because of a passion, a loving admiration...

Well, I suddenly realise I have a little narcissism in me too. This indulgence in myself is clear when I saw this advertisement by Nikon. I want to dress in such carefree bohemian style to take a photo at the next country I go to...
